What should I bring to my private sauna and ice bath session?

Nothing but – we’ve got you covered. Fresh towels, robes, slippers, and premium amenities are all provided as part of your session. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing or swimwear. If you have a water bottle, feel free to bring it along – staying hydrated before and during contrast therapy helps your body get the most out of each cycle.

How long is a private sauna and ice bath session?

Each session runs for 55 minutes, giving you plenty of time to complete 2–3 full contrast therapy cycles. A typical cycle includes 20–30 minutes in the sauna followed by 2–5 minutes in the ice bath, with rest periods in between. Your session begins with a brief consultation so our team can tailor the experience to your goals — whether that’s muscle recovery, stress relief, or general wellbeing.

How cold is the ice bath?

Our ice baths are maintained between 4–8°C. Before you step in, our team will walk you through controlled breathing techniques that make the cold far more manageable than you’d expect. You’re always in control of how long you stay in — most first-timers start with around 2 minutes and work their way up as they become more comfortable with cold water immersion.

What's the difference between a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna?

Our traditional sauna heats the air around you to higher temperatures, producing a faster, more intense sweat — ideal if you enjoy that classic sauna experience. Our infrared sauna uses light wavelengths to penetrate deeper into muscle tissue at a lower ambient temperature, which many clients find more comfortable for longer sessions. Both options include a private ice bath as part of your contrast therapy session. Not sure which suits you? Try both — many of our regulars alternate depending on how their body feels that day.

How often should I do contrast therapy?

For the best results, we recommend 2–3 sessions per week. Regular contrast therapy has been shown to support muscle recovery, improve circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote better sleep. That said, even a single weekly session delivers noticeable benefits for stress relief and overall wellbeing.

Can I combine my sauna and ice bath with other treatments?

I've never done an ice bath before - will I be able to handle it?

Yes — and you’ll probably surprise yourself. Our team guides every first-timer through proven breathing techniques that help your body adjust to the cold quickly. Most clients tell us the anticipation is far worse than the reality. You’re in control the entire time — you choose when to get in, how long you stay, and when to step out. We’re right there with you for every second, so you’re never doing it alone.

Where is Elite Body Recovery located, and is there parking?

We’re located at 922 Anzac Parade, Maroubra NSW 2035 — in the heart of Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. There’s 2-hour free parking directly across the road, so access is easy. Our opening hours are Monday to Friday 9AM–9PM and Saturday to Sunday 7AM–8PM. We’re a short drive from Coogee, Randwick, and Kingsford, and easily accessible from anywhere in the Eastern Suburbs.
